Simulation and Modelling
Assystem provides simulation expertise for product development equipment, from conceptual stage, through to the development assembly, to optimised factory layouts.
Modelling Conceptual Mechanisms
At the outset of any project many ideas and solutions are generated to meet the demands of a proposed system. 3D-simulation provides a clear and unambiguous way towards meeting these criteria. An example of modelling conceptual ideas is this high-speed syringe/stopper assembly system illustrated on the left. View the movie.
Design Tool
An aircraft wingbox was modelled to investigate the access restrictions imposed upon a robot during the application of fillet sealant. The study was intended to show the potential for robotic application to perform this activity cost effectively. The study identified the most appropriate style of robot, its work envelope, the sequence of fillet laydown, the duration of sealant laydown and the information was used to design a capable end effector and obtain an understanding of some of the process parameters.
Discrete Event Analysis
The use of discrete event technique to analyse a multi-variable, dynamic process is the subject of a case study to investigate the use of Automatic Guided Vehicles (AGVs) in a factory. View the movie
