Jig and Tooling - May 2004

Assystem France has recently delivered the first A380 Podding C-Frame unit to Hurel-Hispano, the Airbus supplier for the A380 Engine Nacelles. Three more units will be delivered between now and the end of 2005.

This large Jig allows the Podding of the A380 engines. During this operation, the Fan Cowls, the Thrust Reversers and several systems are installed and rigged on the engine and dummy pylon before the delivery of the powerplant to the Airbus FAL. The Jig accomodates both the Rolls-Royce TRENT 900, and the Engine Alliance GP 7200 configurations.

The Assystem France tooling team has supplied the design and manufacture of an ergonomic concept, including an access gangway, served by a large stairway, and a heavy duty cowls handling crane.
