Between 1998 and 2002, the European Commission committed €3600 Million to research and development technologies - the IST Programme. The benefits of this investment, however, will only be properly realised if the results of the programme are disseminated as widely as possible.

Assystem and our German partner GOPA-Cartermill were appointed to develop and operate a new information service on the progress and results of the IST Programme. The €2.4 million project commenced in August 2002 and is currently in its second phase of operation. The main objective of the project has been to provide a unique and highly visible access point to a range of web-based services.

The majority of Assystem' tasks have been in the establishment of a comprehensive database of IST projects and the management of a progressive quality plan. Our contribution has resulted in:

• a process for managing data on project progress and results
• on-going maintenance of a datafile of IST project URLs
• establishment and monitoring of Key Performance Indicators throughout the project
• audits for assessing project performance
