Engineering Management

The sub-contract of component engineering and manufacture within an IT infrastructure is an increasingly common operational activity. There is, however, the risk of loss of quality through corruption of digital data during the data processing associated with NC programming, tooling, manufacture and test. Evaluation of this is possible through supplier audit, but the company was short of sufficient trained staff to undertake such audits without the assistance of a formal audit procedure.

We formulated a method for auditing suppliers to ensure that sufficient checks and controls were in place and functioning correctly. The method was sufficiently robust to be used by less experienced staff, thus enabling more resources to be utilised.
